jared took back his words of comfort that it was cork insulation falling from the ceiling. it's termite poop. jared gave me a quick tutorial: the termites squeeze all the moisture out of the poop to conserve it, and then they pile it all up. later, they make kick-holes and kick it down onto our couch.

our landlady is looking into it... it's migrating across the front room! they must have a lot of poop stored up!
