2 year anniversary at my work

Yesterday was my 2-year anniversary at my work.

I am so thankful that I have come across a few things that would have made me sulk in the past, but some how today they just got me good.  Bulls-eye.

This post from the awesome blog Stuff Christians Like is all about having the courage to quit your day job and do what you are really called to do.  I love to call ministry coordinating my "day job."

In this post, Jon Acuff writes, you wonder if there's something else you're supposed to be doing because "such a small percentage of who you are, who you really are deep down is getting used at your day job."

I froze at that sentence.  ALL of me is being used at my day job.  100% and more of me.   All of my anger, all of my paralysis, all of my accounting skills and then some, all of my people skills and then some.  All that I am comes out at my day job.

And there is space for more of me!  I can do event planning!  I can daydream about a program for the arts at our church!

There isn't much more to me than that: anger, admin skills, event planning, arts.  And my calling as ministry coordinator uses 300% of what I have to bring.

This fun post at Soul Pancake only drove that home.

What do you do?

I do event planning for the bride of Christ, I do anger problems, I support pastors, I support volunteers, I am dreaming up a program for the arts.  THAT'S what I do.

Happy Anniversary! I love your post, and think you do a terrific job at balancing all the details and showing grace...and when you don't, you're honest about it. What more could you ask for in a gospel administrator?

P.S. Here are some articles about the art installation at my church in Seattle that I was mentioning awhile ago:

I can't believe it has already been 2 years! My favorite part of what you do is be my friend and encourage me in my "day job." What good words you have found to celebrate the work God gives us to do. It is amazing and wonderful to work with you.
