baby #2

i just found this post in my drafts, haha.  i wanted to make a really cool looking collage like the bigtime bloggers do, hahaha.

but now "baby #2" is a person named Carl Fritz and he is sleeping on my chest as I revise so I'm just going to hit publish.

this is just what I came to depend on for my first.  who knows what will happen now!!

my OWN baby checklist:

bob w/ car seat bar + hook to carry grocery bags
swaddles
white noise
fuzzi buns + pampers overnight
sexy tote for diaper bag

scarves for nursing covers
breast pump although my milk doesn't keep : (
designer board books

skip nursing tanks.  too short.
boppy nursing pillow (see if you can get your husband to let you have a nice cover)
gym
jumper so you can ever bathe
gas drops + burp cloths
90 min sleep solution then transition to => healthy sleep happy child
happiest baby on block
a walking buddy
go shopping in target/ walmart clearance where all the XXXL tops are, just to spice up your wardrobe for a month or 2
wipey warmer : )
kindle b/c nursing your first might require both hands
w/ Carl Fritz i'm planning to use the moby wrap all day every day.

***

what I wished I had at the hospital:

sexy nursing top

LANOLIN
if you don't have your own room just go home
if nursing hurts, ask for a lactation consultant NOT A NURSE (nurses seem to think breastfeeding is supposed to hurt.  lactation consultants think it should never hurt.  you tell me whose help you want)

***

biggest game changer is eating.  this is what worked for me/ Freddy:

high chair (we used a Graco travel high chair strapped to one of our dining chairs.  now that he can climb up himself we got a neon green Stokke Tripp Trapp)

a lunchbox that you love, because solids suck!!

traps
don't need silverware, can use salad forks + dessert spoons
just a few fun tupperwares (INSPIRATION: anotherlunch.com)
you have to try all variation of sippy cups, freddy prefers straws
pouches are the BEST
may i suggest smoothies w/ spinach when your husband lays down the law re: no more overpriced pouches which are the best.
prunes
trader joe's freezer foods (chicken nuggets, fish stix, potstickers, edamame)
and it's true, keep trying things b/c one day peas will become his green staple when they used to be the only food that ever made him vomit.
also, take a chill pill.  they don't need to eat that much.
ALSO maybe i should eat more like freddy.  very natural + whole : )  have seriously expanded my produce repertoire thanks to him.

***

things we never bought/ things that didn't work:

bath tub (Jared would wash Freddy when he showered)
bouncer/ swing
make grandma buy and store the pack + play, if she's local, hehe

This post has inspired me to send you a case of pouches and a beautiful nursing pillow cover. Your post is very wise!
