october was shakespeare month

jared and i watched kenneth branagh's hamlet this weekend.  so delicious!  so emo!  so very very unabridged! 
it occurred to me that the whole play could be understood as men trying to control women's sexuality.  and if they can't control it, they just want everyone to die. 
the ghost trying to get hamlet to help him control the queen's sexuality.  laertes and polonius trying to control ophelia's sexuality.  ophelia's sexuality becomes a pawn between hamlet and claudius which makes her go crazy and die.  claudius loses control of gertrude's sexuality, kills her, and then everyone dies. 
jared (who had never read hamlet!) said that isn't what it's about.  HM!  SOMEBODY didn't go to smith!!
