little families who brunch

this morning my best friend from 6th grade (reunited!) came over for brunch with her husband and 13 month old daughter.  so fun!  it has long been my ambition to do a tablescape and this was my opportunity.

here was my inspiration:

and here was my product:

i neglected to photograph the food or the guests.  :(
i made this and this.

freddy was looking good.  that ridiculous face.  normally he strikes me as a very agile, able and brilliant (and handsome) young man, but when my friend's daughter comes over she makes him look like such a big dummy.  he is bigger than her even though she is 5 mos older, and when she comes over he just lays on the ground like a big dumb lug.  so funny.  she's a dainty blossom walking around the room carrying a toy in each hand and he just lays there like a blob and stares at her. they did have one interaction when sitting side by side in high chairs; freddy was lunging for her with both hands and she was offering him one dainty finger, just out of reach.  and he did chew on her darling rain boots.

sources (like anyone cares, i'm so pretentious):
tablecloth - home depot canvas drop cloth | napkins - cut from flannel from discount fabrics in oakland | bird dishes - target | blood orange drinking glasses - crate and barrel outlet |  freddy's sweater - american apparel from aunt nae nae | polo - gap | shoes - h+m from uncle jordy.
