for freddy's nursery was this:
but better. (i did NOT make that lovely lovely design board. laybabylay is one of my new FAVE blogs. she makes nursery design boards like this all the time!)
i was going to use woodgrain fabric for long drapes, make my own bigger version of these DARLING stumps from etsy:
and use orange plaid EVERYWHERE -- for the crib sheet, crib skirt, changing pad cover, ruffle on changing table, chevrons on the black out curtains.
the cherry on top was going to be MUSTACHE ACCENTS.
but i made 2 mistakes.
a) i failed to get jared's approval to use as momentum. he loves plaid but thinks mustaches are a trend (what?! a trend?! no!!).
2) i dreamed it up way before i could ever act on it, so it ripened too soon, and then over-ripened, then fell from the tree and rotted.
what happens to a dream deferred..
freddy's nursery is currently quite lovely. i love to be there. BUT it is currently theme-less. which is probably for the
best b/c i am a sucker for a trend but makes me just a little bit sad
that the room is lacking a unifying principle. the unifying principle is gray/blue/brown things that are magnificently soothing or inspiring. there are only 2 pops of orange in the whole room!
(sigh) the orange plaid/mustachioed/lumberjack nursery is the one that got away.
